project vision
Nestled along the shores of the Halifax River, a new town center for Port Orange is emerging, combining the natural resources of the area with creative planning. It will be a vibrant, captivating place, unlike any other in the area, a destination where all residents, business owners, and visitors can enjoy the beauty of the riverfront. A place where the city can celebrate it's history... and it's future.
Port Orange Riverwalk provides an extraordinary enviornment to live, work, dine, shop, and play, while preserving the culture and riverfront of Port Orange. This project was designed with several key goals in mind:
project goals
The creation of a vibrant pedestrian friendly, mixed-use development that will provide Port Orange with an inviting destination for residents and visitors
The preservation of the riverfront access for public use and enjoyment by incorporating a city-owned boardwalk and park stretching along the shoreline of the entire project.
The inclusion of a strong residential component that will ensure the viability of the retail establishments, restaurants, and other businesses.
The use of architectural designs fitting the surroundings and celebrating the historic and cultural heritage of Port Orange.
The development of an event plaza and wide main streets ideal for hosting festivals, concerts, and other community events.
The use of the increased property tax base from the developed residential units and commercial spaces to pay for all of the public improvments in the project.
